M140i Collected & Piccies

Received a call from my dealer yesterday to let me know the M140i has gone through the paint shop and is rolling along the assembly line :) I know its only about 2 days until the car will be built and then about a month to arrive in the UK and depending how long at customs could potentially arrive a week or two before the new Sept plate. Dealer has to fit the HUD but asked me if it arrives before Sept if I wanted to take delivery or wait. I'm not too bothered about the new reg perhaps more if the car is sitting around the dealers lot for a week or two.

Would you take delivery ASAP or hang on for the Sept reg? :?

Tim.

If it's only a couple of weeks I'd wait but then knowing I can have it now .....I don't know , no, I'd wait ...I think :(

I'd wait - if nothing else, it'll make the car worth slightly more in the future

Thing is I'm very familiar with the dealer and their car park/storage area is dire, my M135i received a nice wing dent when it was last being serviced although to be fair to them it was probably done after it was serviced and sitting on their car park. Don't really fancy a new motor sitting around the compound, perhaps I shouldn't think about it :)

Tim.

I would take it when it is ready .... I would not want it sitting around risking damage when you can have one of the first in the UK :D

Wait, it will be nearly six months old when you get it, value wise

My sons just finished the build stage as well, but it only takes 2 weeks to get to the dealer- not a month. He is getting his the first week of August and production finished today.

Without doubt I'd have it registered on Sept 1 for the plate, future value, etc.

There is no reason the dealer cannot trailer it to your home leave it there and register on the 1st. If you're worried about it sat there.

Cheers SO8, the reg doesn't bother me as I'm intending to keep this one long term  so the any extra value in the newer plate long term is probably negligeable.

I know of someone who has already taken delivery so starting to appear in the UK.

Thanks pvr, so your son has decided not to wait for the new reg?

I remember the Z4 took ages to get into the UK once built, the M135i I remember a few weeks.

May be I should have started a poll

I had the same problem , wanted to take the new car with me on holiday to France , but it's more sensible to wait until September . I think it may be a ploy by the wife to delay it so it doesn't end up on the Nurburgring on the first part of my jollies

He has a private plate, so does not matter. Second hand values are based on month anyway.

Maybe will wait, if only a week or so :|

Still unsure on the colour combo but too late now :)

I may be doing this to be honest if I can find a likeable plate.

You won't be bothered about the colour combo once you drive it , I've inherited the wife's 340i touring , Its a great engine , did you go auto ? I did but had no choice and I'm not disappointed , the engine and box really work well together

Your a better man than me Tim ! If my car was ready I would want it now :headbang:
I've only 5 months to wait on mine coming

Might only be 2 months now Tim ! Won't be Ferrari red though :headbang:
BMW came back to the dealer on Tuesday with a quote of £3920 for the individual paint ! Ridiculous !!! My dealer had ordered a M3 comp a few months ago & the cost was £1980 extra. That's what I based my order on. Dealer sent reply to BMW yesterday stating this & all our history of past cars & loyalty to the brand. Reply today sorry the M3 had been priced wrong & actual price should have been £3920

Couldn't make it up. The prices for individual paint seems to be all over the place. Going over tomorrow to see the way forward, think I'll go for the Yas marina blue as my last 3 cars have been red. Can get a YMB one September build.

i would wait for the new reg

i didn't even know there was a 140, i assume this is even better than a 135?
