M Steering Wheel

I'm thinking about going from the standard z4 steering wheel to the M steering wheel. I just do not like the red/blue stitching.

There are versions of the wheel without the stitching, I think the one from the BMW Performance has all black stitching. The same wheel is used in the 135i sport package as well, iirc.

the ones from the UK don't have the M color stitching unless its on an M model,

Here in the US only the M's get the M steering wheel and its got the colored stitches and everyone comes with steering wheel controls standard

Which I personally love and LOVE the thickness and overall feel of the M wheel, I think the standard wheel is wayyyyyyyy too skinny for a sports car

Has anyone changed the M steering wheel for something a bit silmer?

The steering wheel was the one thing I didn't like about the car when I first got it, but you soon get used to it and now I love it. Got back in my old roadster the other week and the old one feels horrible in comparison.

Chunky for the win :D

I recently fitted the sport wheel, but with MF and paddles. That's the biz and just about perfect thickness and neatly shaped around the thumb area.

They have gone too far on the thickness of the ///M

I've heard many a complaint about the chunkiness of the ///M wheel.

Have to disagree - I think its fantastic. A lovely wheel that feels great. Only problem I have now is everything else feels crap!

I love the thick steering wheel, it feels much better than a thin wheel.

Moreover, the reason the Z4M steering wheel is so thick is due to the anti-vibration padding surrounding the metal rim.

If it wasn't there you would experience a lot of vibration in your hands and wrists, which overtime leads to fatigue.

If you need to swap it out for the normal wheel, I suggest you get sum cushier tires to compensate, or drop 1 or 2 psi from the front wheels.

Got to say I love the steering wheel thickness in the Z4M, I wouldn't change it personally.

Each to their own guys.
Seems like you love 'em. I'd certainly not change it if I had one or if it could be obtained at a reasonable price as MFSW and paddle, so it's no big deal either way.

Small hands - nargh just not arthritic so I can still grip any size wheel. :driving:
