Morning

The insurance is due next month on the M.

Any recommendations from the collective? I need to declare mods of the side skirts and gruppe m intake?

Cheers

Stuart

Mine's with Admiral (multi-car), but I have less choice anyway as I'm in Liverpool.

NFU were happy with the mods also, but 3x the price of Admiral.

Finally A-Plan Thatcham (now Howdens Thatcham) broker were good for a load of the modified M3/M4 owners. I didn't use them last time because they were in the middle of their change to Howdens and were taking days to answer simple queries.

If it's not your main car, Classicline underwritten by ERS is mod-friendly and offers guaranteed value.

Big companies like Admiral will be cheap but also state that any modifications not offered from the factory are not covered. I’m paying £165/yr with all mods declared, which seems ridiculous for a car that costs £800 to tax, but then I know I’ll probably only get the stock market value back if it’s written off.

Interestingly, they’ll cover CSLs as they are an OEM wheel and the fact that they weren’t an option for this car doesn’t seem to matter. So, basically, if you have a S85-swapped Z4M with 500bhp, you’re golden.

Howdens (A-plan), but only the Thatcham branch. Thatcham is/ was the head branch of A-plan and they have the best staff IMO.
Best non-mainstream broker out there IME.

In my case they actually listened to what I needed and spent time looking for the right insurance provider. Too many of these 'specialists' seem to have a one-size-fits-all approach and their computer just spits out a number.

I've alternated between Chris Knott and Adrian Flux because both could offer a competitive quote, but never a competitive renewal price. :(

But this year I went to Howdens Thatcham and they seemed better.

I've tried a few classic providers but they all said they only insured cars 20+ years old - so they'll be an option soon!

Went with Howdens

Very good service and great price!

Thanks all!

My Z4M has an Eventuri intake and KWv3 coilovers.
Last year I phoned around places like Chris Knott and Adrian Flux but they were quite expensive (I think about £500). Ended up going with Howden (who used KGM) who were very reasonably priced £375. Renewed with them a few weeks back for the same price which is nice given I am used to premiums increasing every year with insurance.

Just had my good news on my car insurance renewal from Admiral...
  • 335D insurance has dropped 10%
  • Z4MC insurance has dropped 44% (now £216)
Probably back down to what they were before they jumped for no reason up a few years back.

Whilst they state the do not cover the cost of your mods on like-for-like basis, they seem willing to replace OE parts with aftermarket parts if they didn't cost more (I asked when I had my last incident).
