M Modding

after driving my car for a couple of weeks I'm starting to think about the way it looks.
My two thoughts are keep it oem as possible or not?
My BMW roundels are showing their age, do I replace with std ones or switch to black carbon effect?
One of my M badges has faded, go for std Crome or switch to black?
I'm not a massive fan of the 224 alloys, should I get them painted? Thinking a nice shadow chrome?
Or go down the aftermarket route either new 18" using currant tyres or 19"?
My car is imola red with champagne interior.
Love your guys thoughts

I'll have your 224's if you don't want them ;) you might have issues with 19s but I'm sure others will advise.
Badges are up to you - if you like carbon then get some you'd only have to change when coming to sell but then I doubt anyone would notice.

I've modded the exterior of my car with all oem bmw parts ( different models however ) it looks different and quality is assured. Whatever you do , don't buy cheap pieces and it will always look class ( as long as you have taste of course ) lol

Don't replace with carbon roundels is my humble opinion - unless you want your car to look like a chaved up E36 316 compact.

Apologies if any one has them (it is all personal preference of course).

I trod a similar path mr C & formed a list based on personal criteria & also mods that are easily reversed or as in no4 something that no one would complain about
1) wheels
2) exhaust
3) induction
4) aero sideskirts

It's your car at the end of the day - just be prepared to put it back to stock if you ever come to sell though.

Discreet stuff looks good - I did shadow chrome alloys and all black grilles on the M and that was it.

Agree there for the mostpart but the recent listing & sale of "Cockney playboys" modded M roady proved the opposite :? Lowered springs ,exhaust (RPi ) + 19 inch alloys yet no shortage of bidders & fetched a healthy price just shy of £15k with highish miles on
If OP follows what he's done on his 3.0 he won't go far wrong

Wheels are the only thing I'd consider doing on your list, but keep your 224's.
Replace your badges with new OEM.
A 20mm drop and some spacers on your 224's will improve the look quite a lot whilst keeping the OEM look.

Cheers for all your comments, I think the std roundels are the way to go.
What size of spacers would you recommend on the 224's?

I have the blue carbon roundels, they're pretty discreet - nobody notices them, the pro is that they're cheap to buy, the con is that they don't grip without a modification to them so they spin in place. The OCD factor of not having them line up with the M sticker is real.

You can see in this picture that even from this distance, you can't see that they're after market 3rd party pieces.

I think even if you order new OEM wheel centres they will be slightly different and IMHO better than the originals- my original ones had a flat face whereas the new ones I bought front BMW are domed.

Evening:)
Spend your money on Bmw centres
They will be new style as old as per my 224s before new CSLs the centres were old style and water seeps in and rusts them under plastic front
New one fit nicely and now in CSLs
Freshens wheels too
I even stuck one on grill over plastic badge of rad cover:)
Carbon ones look tacky
Wheels make/break a car
Stubby ariel I feel tidies rear up
Spoiler Bmw one makes rear beefier without looking like Halfords present
I've put Led lights in all internal and even reverse lights
Freshens car up big time
Over all is polish its ass off and keep it that way
As will always look sweet that way:)
