///M idle and pull away issue...

Had the ZMR for three days now, and can't wipe the smile off my face.... My short commute to work has now quadrupled in length, what an engine.... :trampoline:

But, the only small annoying is the revs dropping off at idle, mentioned many times on this forum. I have read through, but cannot tell if there is a fix (simple or not) for it yet?

Who has had it, and now cured it?

I am at the Surrey meet on Sunday, so will see a few fellow M's to compare to.

Thanks.

Best to wait and compare at the meet...
Ive not noticed any issues with mine so we can compare the two...

Woots, yup, lets check 'em out on Sunday.

But somebody must have cured it, anyone?

Might see you at the bottom of the a27 early Sunday am....

2dogs, "a feature of the model" .... Hmmm, maybe I need to adjust my driving, keep the revs nearer the red line than idle....... :driving:

Do what you like AFTER they're safely delivered and consumed. I reckon you should post pics in the meet thread to convince any waverers to turn up :)

have the e46 owners got anything to say about the hesitation issue..
this weekend will be a good chance for everyone to compare throttles and idling issues etc....

This can be plan B if it rains. We can make ///M noises together :)

Just change the two throttle position sensors and it will be nice and responsive again. Bit of a git to get to the one on the throttle actuator since the whole intake and plenum is removed but very glad I changed them as it was getting annoying :)

The other thread has pictures and part numbers to help.

Adam D, thanks. After poking around various other ///M's at the weekend, some with and some without this issue, you comments seem logical. Accelerator is missing the first bit of travel, which I am sure will confuse the system.

Did you change the sensors yourself, or a garage? Thanks.

Mine does this at times and stalls, quite embarrassing the only way round it is to rev it a bit more before releasing the clutch and then you get the kangaroo effect, also quite embarrassing,or sport on dsc off and smoke the tyres up the road, not embarrassing but the pigs dont like it.

only times I've had this it's been fuel related.. or O2 sensor related where it got worse & tripped the EML light.

Is everyone that's having issues using 98+ fuel?

Sounds familiar! I also had poor response on the first inch or so of throttle applied, felt laggy.

Yes I changed them myself, there should be a few photos and tips at the end of the big thread on it. Both position switches are the same part number, the one at the front of the engine on the throttle butterfly arm is a doddle to swap. The one on the throttle actuator is a pain since you remove the air intake and airbox.

It's not so much difficult if you use the guide in the other thread but is fiddly, especially the six spring clips which hold the air intake manifold on. Feel free to pm me for more details :)
