///M exhaust cat back system

inkey$

Anybody got a schematic they can post? Just home after a Clapham pothole cracked my near side exhaust and apparently its half cracked just past and beyond the back box itself. Need to know what potential £damage its going to be for whatever replacement parts I need plus fitting.

Also, what do you reckon; dealer or specialist such as ETA Motorsport to do the job?

Edit: Ive tried RealOEM but it keeps crashing on me. Not a good end to the day Im having.

Cheers

Just a thought - did you take photos of the pothole to see if you can claim from the council ?

Here's the centre section...

If you can't sleeve/weld the crack then you're looking at about £700 for the x-pipe - so you might as well buy something aftermarket (such as this Supersprint one for $850, plus shipping, taxes, etc.) :poke:

Time to go aftermarket imo...
As good an excuse as ur ever gonna get
Shame it happened to ///Mollie tho mate

Cheers mmm-five. Looks like I'll need a new centre section then. Am guessing thats not going to be the cheap part!

Bing - alas not. Was on the main traffic north side part of Clapham and couldnt stop. Limped it round to just off of Abbeville Village and parked up. Just worried I was going to lose the rear box completely. Home now after setting off 3 hours ago!?!

Depending on the quote its definitely something I've considered tonight. Whats the latest prices on full aftermarket systems? Nothing too loud but with a rumble! Must admit the drive home 'sounded' great even if it was me limping like a lame dog.

Weld-able?

It has to be worth reporting it to the council and try for a claim. It's not easy but if you don't ask you won't get

If you want to hear my Diablo exhaust in person, I can arrange to drive over one evening/late afternoon (regularly work/stay in Brentford Tue-Thu but am also doing a Fri this week).

It would be specialist welding on this system. Will look into the council reporting and claim but without proof they'll probably laugh in my face! Nothing ventured nothing gained though right.

You could prob sell the damaged stuff for something...surely someone is gonna want some damaged back boxes for some reason....
Pick out all the pieces of precious metals or something...
That'll help towards the upgrade

They'll also point out that it was probably on its way out anyway, and the pot-hole simply accelerated it.

I'm at about 25:75 in the council's favour on pothole claims

Aftermarket boxes by Remus are about £800 but my issue is the centre section. What am I missing?

In theory the backboxes will just bolt onto the OEM centre sections, but my experience is that none are actually without their own fitting issues :P

Sorry to hear that Inkey$ , but I am excited by the sound, no pun intended, of you having an aftermarket set up!! :driving:  :driving:

Yeah, its a pain in the backside to be honest, but luckily I have time on my side as she is hardly used at the moment. Will get some quotes for replacement OEM, investigate aftermarket systems and keep an eye out for any forum members wanting to sell either

You - gentlemen, are the best

Will check that all out and Woots; PM also sent to Flatout.
