M Drivers Package

Noticed whilst reading my handbook supplement for M Zed's that the Coupe has an M-Drivers package which raises the limited top speed from 155mph to 171mph. I did a quick search to see if there had been any previous threads relating to this but couldn't see one.

My questions are :-

1) Has anybody specified it ?
2) What did it cost ?
3) Does it come with the 1.5 day driver training at the Nurburgring (like the E60 M5 and E92 M3 M-driver packages do).

Noticed it wasn't available for M Roadsters..... :driving:

Just leave it in 5th gear and you'll overcome the electronic limiter anyway.

Would love to do the Nürburgring driver training - and had actually planned to do it last year before work dropped off significantly

Sounds like the thing they offered with the CSL. If you could provide an ARDS licence they'd remove the limiter for you before sale.

Except BMW UK won't derestrict your car for you, even with an MSA license. Believe my, I tried several times via my dealer, another dealer, BMW UK customer service direct etc.., as I'd heard this rumour too. I even tried arguing the point that the Isle of Man is part of the UK with no speed limits out of town, but they wouldn't budge :x

Not sure if my car has already had this done, whilst on a private road I have seen about 163 and was still pulling in 6th, does this sound normal?

Yes, because the speedo is about 10mph out when it gets up to that speed :P

According to some guys from Sweden & Belgium on another forum (think it was called Bimmerpost or something similar) it costs 2,350 EURO and the ECU goes back to Munich and arrives back a week later with the new M-Driver limits applied. It also comes back with the vouchers for the driver training. Will try and find the link to the post (the guy had posted PDF's of his vouchers).

For info the M-Driver limits for the M5 were 305km/h and 280 km/h hour for the M3.

Here you go....the link to the discussion on the other forum.
