m coupe back boxes

been tidying up rear boxes on the m coupe, was'nt sure if they are stainless or not ,they seem to be aluminised i think, so cleaned and buffed them, they ar loads better but still not like polished stainless steel, maybe i need to polish through the coating, any thoughts welcome.

Looks like the BBQ paint idea caught on then. Painted mine back in Jan '11 and surprisingly its lasted pretty much intact since. Certainly handles the heat of spirited runs and tidies the look

You can get silver VHT spray paint from halfords, that'd do the same trick

A chap in my local BMW club had the rear boxes removed and stainless pipe welded in on his M5,looks good and sounds fantastic.
