Now I don't own an M, but it does strangely annoy me seeing M badges on non M cars!! I followed a 5 Series diesel with an M badge on the back last night!! Why?? :?

Bonkers,

My Neighbour has a 5 Series Diesel but has stuck an M badge on saying its an M sport.... No M badges in the engine bay and only twin Exhaust.....

Can he really put a badge on and is there any tell tale signs its a M Sport?

Cheers

PaulN

M sports have an aerodynamic kit a bit like the M5s and have nicer wheels than standard- but are easily distingguised from the M5.

As the originator of this thread, i feel i have to add my latest non-M experience to the party.

We're currently chopping the wife's Mini for a 1 series as we've had a baby and the Mini is used only to take me to the gym! We went down yesterday to look at a 116i Msport in white, nice looking car. Came complete with 116i AND M badges on the back, brand new from BMW.

It's like some weird jekyll and hyde confused car. I told the dealer he'd have to take the badges off before we consider buying it and they were very confused! "most people realy want the M badge Sir" came the reply.

Well i ain't most people!

Ah, so they are fitted from the factory then! I saw one the other day at my gym!

Well if it's factory fitted on that car, does it really matter?

I guess we should'nt be suprised that BMW in a quest to sell more cars have started sticking an 'M' badge on the boot of M sports versions. Or is it the dealer that's doing this????
They're on the wheels, door plates, and steering wheel already so this is the next logical step.
