Hi guys..

Having trouble with my 4 pot..2.0l from tick over..
I'm finding it hesitant and misses from tick over, when throttle is applied ..having no other no other issues after engine spins up..
it pulls fine and changes through the gears with no issue..only after applying the throttle from tick over..
a little disconcerting when you try to.pull out on a roundabout and the engine splutters from tick over :o ..and another car is coming at you...

Cheers chaps

Mate, you could try a throttle reset.

1) turn key to illuminate dash lights but dont start engine. Then count to 15 as in 1 1000 2 1000 etc.

2) turn off and count to 15 again then immediately start engine.

If this works then brilliant but if not its cost you nowt.

Or, it could be the fuel regulator on its way out. You need to scan the zed for any codes.

Or, it could be a coil pack starting to fail. Also, check all pipes for splits or cracks. If you are getting the emissions light coming on frequently this could point to this.

These are the first things i would look at.

Hope this helps. Cheers, tug

Tug, i have a zimilar issue. Bit of hunting from cold at idle.
No other symptoms and no codes.
Was going to to a reset of adaptations, but the old Autophix warned me I may have to 'rematch' it afterwards, at which point I bottled it.
This throttle reset? So you don't touch the throttle at all?

No mate, this resets the throttle adaptations made throughout the life of users. You will notice a difference straight away. When i had a new VT the fitter wiped the adaptations from the old VT added to my throttle reset the zed was transformed. Dont know bout the rematch but im sure it is a simple operation probably turning the ignition on and letting the VT run through the setup procedure.

Cheers, tug

Thanks mate.
I'll give it a go.
Fitting a new VVT servo for another lad on Monday so that'll be interesting to see the differences.

Would this work on an E89 ?

My throttle is pretty much un-responsive when pulling away in first. (I done CVD)

Tried it anyway !

Seems to have done trick. Might be a mind/mental thing, we'll see 8)

Thanks tugg I'll give that a go..
Never tried this yet so fingers crossed..
I was leaning more towards a failing MAF ..
But once again I cant be sure...
I do get the PO420 accasinonaly, but having owned this car for 5 years ,I'm used to that ..the 2.0l curse

Tried the reset,

Still.getting hesitant power up/splitter from tick over .
However it does seem smoother on tick over.
Something I should add for greater clarity,is that it only seems to happen when engine is at operating temperature, doesn't seem to happen when warming up..
Thoughts appreciated,
