luggage partition

Hi guys. I have a 2010 auc warrantied 23i. when i purchased the car, in october, i noticed that one of the clips holding the luggage partition was loose but thought nothing of it as i thought id get it fixed later as it was not affecting the roof opening or closing. However the clip has now broken off. the clip that connects the pull down to the metal bar. My car was taken in for another problem and i asked them to look at it. they have now said that the clip cannot be bought separately and that the whole luggage partition will need replaced and its not under warranty and will be £250 pounds or so. Can you guys tell me if this is correct? surely the clip can just be replaced as it just screws onto the metal bar? Id be interested in anything you have to say on the matter.

They are right. You can't get the clip alone and it's happened to a few people including me. Thankfully mine went within the warranty period.

HOWEVER you can fix it yourself with a drill and three bolts as all that's needed is for you to drill through the three plastic plugs and thread bolts through. They're a badly designed component.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately ive only got the top half of the clip dont know what happened to the other half.

Yep think that will be my next port of call. though i phoned the garage i bought it from and they said theyd have a look at it so see what happens. thanks for the advice.
