Lube

To my utter horror I could not open the bonnet on my recently purchased Z4 machine today: got some spotty 16yr old youth from Halfords to put a little light pressure to the bonnet on one side, and hey presto - we're in !

Have lubed it up, so to speak, with WD40 (no white lithium grease to hand) but I can't get it open again - any advise - I presume it's just the centre ;latch I lube ?

The catch needs adjusting to be honest. If that can not be any more adjusted, a new cable as it may have stretched.

Can you not also wind down the rubber stoppers to put less pressure on the catch? (I may be talking nonsense  )

If you lower the rubber stoppers the bonet will be out of position though I would think.

Agree with you there srhutch - the idea is to use them to set the height correctly.

As an aside I had mine replaced with spring loaded versions instead of screw in rubber. Very neat, but don't ask where they came from as I really don't know.
