 i'm from the bay (california)
i want to lower my car, but i'm wondering if i should just keep the suspension i have now (sports pkg), or can i buy an aftermarket suspension? [thus lowering the car, as well]

i've driven lowered cars before (hondas, etc) and you end up sacrificing ride comfort.

for those that have dropped their zed... do you regret it? does it drive and feel better? compared to bmw's sports suspension.. which do you like??

i like lowered cars.. for a lot of reasons.. but i dont wanna lower my zed if it's gonna f**k it up.

No matter which lowering kit you go with, make sure you change out the stock struts/shocks at the same time. Go with Koni adjustable struts/shocks. This is absolutely important because the struts/shocks will play a huge factor as to how the car rides (floaty, stiff, soft, etc). Also, if you lower the car without changing the struts/shocks, the stock ones will fail/blow pretty quickly depending on how low you go.

H&R spring will give you the most aggressive, slammed drop. Their advertised 1.5" is more like 2.2" after a few hundred miles. You'll bottom out pretty much everywhere you go. But stay away from H&R (both springs & coilovers) if ride quality is a concern for you.

Eibach springs will give you really good ride comfort when combined with the Koni struts/shocks. Comfort-wise, this combo is damn close to stock, if not the same as stock. Drop is about 1.2" all around. Not an aggressive drop but the car will look nicely lowered and has a nice stance. The koni adjustable struts/shocks will allow you to either stiffer or loosen the dampening depending on your likings.

The important thing is to make sure you find a reputable shop to work on your suspensions. It's not an area where you wanna cut corners. A good install will save you from many headaches, dead brain-cells, money, and wasted time. I'm speaking from my own experience.:(

Also a good idea to replace the rear-shock-mounts at the same time as the stock ones are known to crack easily with aftermarket suspensions.

Do we replace the shock-mounts with aftermarket ones?
TIA

Yep aftermarket ones like Rogue Engineering or TCK's. The stock RSM's are pretty thin pieces of metals hence why they crack easily.

I have KW variant 3 and I reccomend it. I did not replaced top mounts. Also Bilstein PSS9 is a great product. I prefer KW because for daily driving is smoother.
