lowering springs

Im beginning to think I want to have lowering springs soon...to break my stock shocks(warranty claim :))

so how does it ride?

anyone have a set for sale? I saw it a WHILE ago and i passed it up like an idiot lol

Why do you need to blow out your shocks to get them replaced under warranty? If you just want some new shocks, just buy some Koni struts/shocks and the car will handle better and have a better ride comfort than stock.

If they see that you have lowring springs, the suspension part of the warranty gets voided. So after you blow out the shocks you'll need to put the stock springs back onto the car just for the dealer's inspection which means more labor costs & wasted time. And you'll still have a hard time convincing the dealer that all 4 shocks just blow out all at the same time with stock springs.

This is something i want to do also but am worried about how it will change the camber of the rear wheels thus wearing big the inside edge of the tyres ???, will i need to fit some adjustable bits to re align the rears when it's lowered or can it just be dropped and there be no issues. I know Eibach and H&R do spring kits for the car...

I agree. For the money you will spend installing new springs just to blow out the factory shocks, and then putting the stock ones back in for warranty claim, you are better off just buying a set of koni shocks and installing them. Even if you put the stock springs back in, I'm sure the dealer will be able to tell from the bolts that the suspension has been tampered with.

Springs/shocks is definitely one aspect that you shouldn't cut corners on.

If you still want to blow out your shocks, then I'd say simply drive over some large speed bumps really fast so they'll wear out faster. But then again you might damage other stuff :!:

Seems a bit odd to do this just to blow your shocks. I would recommend the H&R springs over standard shocks though, as a bang-for-buck upgrade. I find my car rides really well with this setup, although I will move to coilovers in the future. But it certainly was an improvement over stock.

The differnce is the H&R springs you have are for the Z4M. The drop is fairly mild and the springs are matched to the shocks much better. The H&R springs for the regular Z4 are different than the H&R springs for the MZ4 and they're a whole other story. The drop is aggressive. The advertised 1.5" drop will turn out to be more like 2" 1K miles after installation. They don't match the regular Z4's dampers very well either. The result is a much harsher ride quality, a slammed Z4, & stock shocks thatr are soon to fail within 10k~15k miles.
