Low idle speed ?

I was wondering if this is a normal idle speed for a 2.0i .
Sometimes it can be a little rough but it might just be how it is ???
It doesn't move around , it just settles there.

though mine is a 23i, it is the same idle

rough cold start could be caused by few things, put the car on INPA or ISTA-D and check the Rough Idle stuff

It's starts lovely and it's smooth but sometimes it just feels a little bit rough on idle. At normal operating temps.

Just didn't expect it on a petrol car like this

Is this idle speed with the A/C switched off? I find mine idles low and a little rough with the A\C off, but when it’s on it’s about 200rpm higher and very smooth.

Part of the issue is that if the battery is low the alternator runs hard on tick over which tends to make the N20 engine hunt a little..I notice your stop/start icon appears disabled..either cause the battery is low or you have disabled it manually?

Or the car’s not up to full operating temperature yet

That's also true! Maybe/probably the reason for the light!

I will check the state of a/c and check that it's reasonably warm on a run. I don't exactly remember when I took that picture now but it wasn't cold as I was out somewhere.
I don't usually turn off the autostop start and appears to have a mind of its own that thing 😂.
I just thought coming from an f30 diesel that this would be smooth as glass.

On mine the tick over is the same...the vacuum pump clatter doesn’t help the impression..suggest you don’t spend much time idling and drive it instead..  :driving:

I see the problem (sport mode) it draws you in :P

That and it’s the 35i / is I’m guessing. :driving:

I think sports mode x2 with the engine and gearbox that’s the problem, and the roads on my doorstep.

The DCT S mode holds the gear much higher before it changes

It’s not a problem............... until it’s time to refuel.

Yes, 35iS :driving:
