Lovely Ali pedal covers

My new pedal covers arrived today. Nice heavy aluminium with rubber strips. Got em off Ebay and they are for an E46 but I think they will fit. I shall make them fit. Got all three for an auto for £15 still in the shrink wrap.

Make sure you can buy spares or spare rubber at least, as if the rubber wears down your MOT tester can fail the car.

BTW, make sure you attach them securely :P

I will get the pics on tonight as I intend fitting them as soon as I get home from work.

Right then. Here are a couple of pic's and in response to a question, I got them from a private seller on Ebay as they were surplus as he no longer had his E46.
To continue, If I was to say I enjoyed the experience of fitting my delightful Aluminium pedals I would be lying. Feast your eyes on the results below and then read on.......

The dead pedal was easy. I used 15mm countersunk self tapping screws as the plastic existing dead pedal accepted the Ali cover very nicely as you can see. The next bit was the throttle pedal. I used 10mm long countersunk self tappers this time as any longer and the top 2 will contact the fly by wire throttle potentiometer housing and therefore prevent full depression of the pedal. Not what we want! Quite easy again as the solid and robust pedal is covered by the cover and accepted the screws reassuringly.
Now for the fun bit. I removed the brake rubber cover which reveals the metal pedal. I thought about the self tapping option and dismissed it as I don't think I would of been happy with the sharp bit hanging out the back and potentially grabbing my stylish shoe should my foot ever end up under the brake pedal. You never know with cruise control! What I did was this, I offered up the cover, marked the 4 fastener points and drilled each hole with a 4.5mm drill. I then drilled out the fastner holes on the pedal cover itself to accommodate the 15mm M4 stainless cheesehead bolts. The head does not stand any prouder than the rubber grips. I used a flat washer, a lock washer and nyloc nuts to bolt the cover to the pedal. I put on my usual shoes and drove the car about with no noticeable difference to the way the pedals felt or the behaviour of the car or my feet. They look really nice, especially as I have upgraded the footwell lights with super bright LEDs. However, be warned, What I did today was not much fun. Especially the drilling of the brake pedal. The upside is that all this can be removed and with the brake pedal rubber replaced and perhaps some plastic screws to blank the holes in the dead pedal and throttle pedal, no one would know. I like them but I won't do it again. Comments welcome...

Like them - but no surprise as they are identical to the set I fitted 3 years back.

Don't worry about the rubbers wearing. Mine are just fine after many miles

There seems to be a pedal missing, and an ///M badge on them :P

They look like a bargain though

The M means that it's all mine and there are plenty of pedals there to chose from. Go and stop. I do 50,000 pa in a 68mph restricted 6 speed Vivaro so stirring porridge in my spare time is not acceptable. :D
