Loudspeaker system vs Logic 7

Guys,

How much of a difference in sound quality between the two systems? In my head I've listed Logic 7 as an essential option in my search for a Z4M which is hard to find, lots with Loudspeaker upgrade.

Does the Loudspeaker still have the bass boxes behind the seats?

My old 3.0 had the Carver system and it was fantastic. I'd be looking for the same quality of sound as that. Will Loudspeaker meet my fussy needs?

i have logic 7 and i find it a great system to be honest........ someone on the american board posted some DSP settings and they made a huge difference to my sound setup... ive never ever had the idea i want more sound out of my logic 7.... so it must be good ;-)

would it make the difference from mw not buying a certain guy if it didnt have it??? no.
 
The HFi loudspeaker set up has the 2 extra speakers behind the seats where the cubbyholes are in the STD car.

I haven't heard L7 in a Zed but had it in a Discovery4 and it was 100x better than my HiFi in the Z4M. Sound quality is much better from the iPod tho.

I haven't heard the Carver system but I very much doubt either the loudspeaker or Logic7 systems will come close to that. I suspect if you've had the Carver before then you may be disappointed with both!

Personally I don't rate the Logic7 very highly at all compared to some factory systems in other cars.
 
I concur, I have the Logic 7 in my car and frankly it's not a patch on the Bose system in my latest acquisition, a 2001 Honda Accord SE Executive (oh yes!) which came as standard.

I never did a side by side, but I test drove cars with the Loudspeaker system and Logic 7 and they both sound like they could be better. In an ideal world the original owner of my car would have specced Loudspeaker and with the money saved got something else, like Bluetooth or Cruise. Also Logic 7 without Sat Nav (as my own car is equipped) is pretty pointless. You can't adjust the DSP settings manually, and most of the time I run it with DSP off as the three presets (Church, Jazz and something else) all make it sound worse, not better.

As an aside, may I just remind you that there are, relatively speaking, only a handful of M Coupes products and therefore choice is limited. I'd far rather have an excellent condition well maintained car with no options than a shed with all the toys. Personally I'd be paying more attention to general provenance and good colour choice (so no black on black in my case - your opinion may differ).
 
I have Logic 7 and had the BOSE in my Boxster, and to be honest I can't say there is much between them. Both decent systems but could be improved upon with a few more £££
 
Having had several BMWs I was disappointed with the general clarity of sound when I got the 'M'. I think the settings on the DSP in the Z4M are crucial. It's not a very accoustic place and it's easy for the sound system to sound poor. As Beedub says it needs to be set a certain way, can't remember exactly what without checking the car. Much happier with it now.

I don't suppose you'd be able to find that would you Byron? I'd be really interested to give it a go, as I'm sure would everyone.

Quite agree.

I had Hifi on my 3.0 and can't tell the difference now, although it has been nearly 4 years. Both sound good enough to my untrained ears.
 
I've had cars with Logic 7 and without. I wouldn't waste my time messing with the Logic 7. All Z4 ICE is rubbish compared to even a basic £100 header unit with £50 speakers.

I've just got used to having crap ICE in my Z4 and suggest you do the same. If you have an M, there is plenty more to keep you entertained anyway!
 
I think the Logic7 is better than the BOSE in my pals TT-S.

The std system in the Z4 is shockin!!!
