I was hoping someone could help with my 06 2.5si, as I have had this faint metallic rattle when I'm in gear and accelerating which I was told by BMW (when in warranty) that its just a loose value its fine but now its much much louder and happens whenever I accelerate and sounds terrible like there is a piece of metal loose in the exhaust or in the engine somehwere. However it doesn't occur if I'm stationary and I rev the engine so its hard to tell where its coming from. I have had a national exhaust company lift the car and have a look at the heat shield as I thought that could be the problem but nothing and they gave the exhaust a good bang and yet nothing. Can anyone help out?
It also nearly cut out today as I approached a roundabout but I gave it some revs and it was fine then it did at the next roundabout but started fine just a bit rough at low revs but now seems ok, is that linked?
