Lotus 25 and My Dream Mini

I just watched this:
Not too sure how well known this documentary is, but I enjoyed it.

I am sure that many here (Machine Monkey excluded) have a dream ride they configure in their imagination, and visit off and on when time allows.
My first car was a Morris Mini 850 that I bought from an amateur race mechanic.
I was introduced early to the magic and science of "modding" at a very young age (15years old in 1967) and ever since I am not happy unless there is an opportunity to improve and improvise.
And as my first choice ( Ferrari 275 GTB ) evolved out of my price range.

My perfect Mini ? (Paying Homage to Jim Clark and his Lotus)
The one I would love to build..

Cooper S
British Racing Green ( Actually the current Mini Cooper Green is pretty close)
Just Green (roof and mirrors)
Trim painted to match or blacked out (ie. No bright accents)
2 very large Lotus Yellow racing stripes.

Wheels ?
I'm quite contrary here.
Would have to be aftermarket and pay homage to Mini Lites.
I never got past those super fat and wide racing tires from my youth.
So I would pass on the current trend of rubber band tyres and go for 50 series and smaller rims.
Maybe even 55 or 60 profile.
And for more controversy ...
Ready for it ?
Paint the rims to colour match the racing stripes !!!

So there yah go.
Sounds easily attainable.
But over here it's near impossible to option any Mini Cooper without a sun roof.
And just about any individual option (like limited diff or even JCW steering wheel) is lumped into an option package that includes a sun roof.
And when I casually mention shifting my Zed for said Mini the sales and even the service people, look horrified and think I'm making a joke.

So I hope a few of you on the form have similar dreams that you plan for sometime in your future.
The video certainly showed that the passion once thrived.

Cheers

Just get the sunroof wrapped body coloured.
Fair enough you will still have the black outer around the sunroof but it should be closer to what you want.

Jim Clark...my absolute all-time hero. Hands down the best driver in that era and any since. The Lotus 49 is my favourite race car. I wonder what else he could have achieved if he had not died so tragically in 1968.

I agree. Jim Clark, a Top Chap.
Of the driver's I have actually seen live, the choice is easy.
Mark Donahue driving the giant Porsche #6 in Can Am at Mosport in 1972 (?)
He was so smooth. Head and shoulders above all the rest of his day.
Now if that car was BRG Green with yellow stripes ... :)

I was at a sales promotion at the local BMW Dealer yesterday.
Dropped into the Mini Pavillion to take a look and visit with my favourite sales woman.
(I had taught her Mom in Grade 8 :o !!! )
And that's exactly what she said.
Don't like it ?
Cover it with a wrap !
