2005 E85 Z4 3.0. 47000 miles.

A brand new problem: multiple warning lights come on sometimes. It's not always the same lights. The RPMs drop and the car seems to stall momentarily. It then rights itself and on we go. No diagnostics have yet been run. Any ideas ???? Thanks

You need to run a diagnostics. Worth checking the battery - is it on its original, is the car off road for long periods?
(and Welcome  )

I am trying to get diags run today. I did consider the battery. I also have a 2005 2.5 and had odd problems before I replaced it's battery. The 3.0 is new to me 2 years ago. I do not know the age of the battery and yes it is off the road for long periods (6 months at a time). It has now been back on the road for 6 weeks. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. Etiquette says you should probably introduce yourself first and then ask for help with problems. We're not that scary!

Your problem could be many things. Either dying battery as Marlon stated or some electrical gremlin. The only way you'll fix those is to get a diagnostic as otherwise you could end up barking up the wrong tree.

P.s. we also like to see pictures of new members motors. Don't be shy!

Use a better diagnostic tool. Inpa is bmw software or simple C110 scanner. If you had lights on the dash a fault will always be logged on that day in ecu memory file and is readable. Faults are even stored in the ecu memory before any lights may appear on dash too. If they reset them self then its not to serious but if they stay on needs asap attention

The manufacture date of the battery should be stamped on one of the terminals - MM/YY if I recall correctly.

I'd say insufficient battery charge as was exactly the behaviour of my Zed replacing the starter (I hadn't looped the alternator)...in which case diags will ping all sorts of undervoltage codes so deffo get proper diags ran.

Could also be vacuum as goldbcfc said, other issue I had was the CCV hose to the rocker cover was split, car runs like a dog.

Does yours start again OK or do you feel it struggling to tun over?

Removed, tested and put the battery back in. Problem solved ! I'm convinced that it was the battery and/or connections.
