Lost Service Book... Advice please!? :(

Hey All,

After my last service (Insp II and Brake Fluid) I cannot for the life in me find my service book. After asking around, it seems that it was last at a friends garage, who remembers seeing it there, but it has since gone missing - how annoying! :headbang: I'd normally have a huge array of backup invoices, however the car was BMW AUC a few months before my ownership, so no invoices came with it.

Since my ownership at ~28,000miles, it has had (with Invoices):
~33k - Oil Service - Sytner BMW
~48k - Insp II - Spitfire Performance (My Friends)
Now (~56k) - Oil Intermediate Service (In which I realised I couldn't find it - Doh!)

I know there were 3 stamps before me, presumably PDI Check, Oil and Inspection 1. I do not remember seeing any BMW logos on the stamps though... Should i ask BMW (dealer or BMW UK?) whether they have them on file? Do you think this would affect re-saleability, even though the AUC documentation with my car said it REQUIRED a full service history to be eligible. Not that im remotely considering on selling her :) :driving:

Thanks, Ed... Gutted!

Same thing happened to me, you can get a replacement service book from the dealer and send it round the servicing dealers (BMW should be able to provide this) and they should then stamp it up.

I swear I was never provided one with mine despite being AUC :?

Oh my gosh that is shocking!! :o I cant beleive theres a 'black market' for the things! Sounds like someones making a cut off working at a dealership :headbang:

Why buy a 5 stamped book, when the same guy sells the actual Stamps!? :o :o

To me the service book is a quick glance at the service history, the real history are the oil service / inspection invoices from the dealer (of which they can print for you again if you know where it was serviced) I wouldnt worry too much, look who the previous owners were then ring the bmw garages nearest to where they live, they had details on my compact from years back doing this. :driving:

Just goes to show that when you buy a car you need to know what you're looking at and see a pile of receipts for services, work done, etc. or be prepared to talk to previous owners or garages that worked on the car.

As a buyer, I would expect the seller to do the legwork for that one though.

After my last service at Sytner Sheffield I couldn't find mine either. Turns out that the guy who was dealing with me kept my service book behind so that I'd have to go back for it
Make sure that hasn't happened to you too ;)
