Car at my local bmw dealer been there two days. The bmw technician said he has reconfigured the gearbox he said that might be OK if the rumbling noise returns I need a new torque converter they quoted me £1800 think I might get rid it's turning into a money pit. Unfortunately I haven't enjoyed z4 ownership.

It seems true that the legendary bmw build quality doesnt apply to these cars, there seems to be an abundance of issues kicking about, Ive had a few myself but apart from the roof motor have managed to address these myself...already spent more on this car in 6 months than i have in 6 years on my daily, still love the zed tho 
Avoid dealers, they seem to have a habit of replacing parts until the issue is solved. It's a very costly method of maintenance. Even if they are right, an indy will be a lot cheaper.
