Looks like I may have to sell the Z4 later this year :-(

Thanks Bing! I agree with everything you've said!

I mainly want to give my son a better life than what I had as a child & im sure nearly everyone would want the same thing for their children whether they are parents or not. And if by doing so I have to sacrifice one thing that i love at this moment in time then so be it! Like you said, things change, in 6 months time after birth the girlfriend could be back working & in a job earning double what she does now (probably wont happen but you never know) and I could be back here showing you my Z4M :P

Good man  [FX: clears lump in own throat]
With that motivation, you can't go wrong. You're the one who knows the detail of your finances best, you go with what you think is best. My only two bits of advice as a parent: 1) don't underestimate how little time you might have for 'tinkering' once you have a wee one (all depending how much of a support network you have in terms of Grandparents and any others who can help with childcare); and 2) make the most of your girlfriend's earning potential while he is pre-school and able to go to nursery, because arranging wrap-around childcare once they get to school can be a lot trickier!

Best of luck with the baby :)

Dead right mr a
without doubt my 2 are the best of my achievement's & make material things insignificant .
There are downsides that come with the responsibility but ultimately they taught me tolerance, patience, humility & the art of sharing whatever you have , , , , none of the above i had before my children 8) in short a great leveller which is hard to get across to those who can't or don,t have their own offspring
I'd sell everything i had for them

Is that why your looking at getting rid of the zed???

:) your posts always make me smile Mm  , answer is not at all . my 2 are 21(Jake) & 17 (Ella) & they are busy enjoying their own lives which prompts me to look at my own 8) I love spending time at our house in france & tightening up our finances will enable me to spend even more time there . A third car is a luxury & whilst i love it to bits i can live without it . although it may become mrs w's daily driver & the tourer goes down the road ?
time will tell

That sounds like a better idea anything to keep the zed i would say!! I have made the wife promise me that when we start a family my baby is allowed to stay!!

It will probably be you Bing! :D

cheers Mirrie! advise taken :) we will probably need the money anyway so she will be going back as soon as possible
