Hi everyone,

I bought a zed a few weeks ago and it had 224's on it, I like the wheels but I prefer the 108 split rims.

The wheels are in good condition one has been kerbed slightly and a few have other small blemishes but overall they are pretty clean.

They are on the original Continental Non run flat Tyres that come with the Z4M, the fronts have around 5-6mm and the rears have 4+mm.

Looking to swap for a set of 108's, with possibly cash my way depending on condition.

Let’s see what you have.

Currently have a couple of sets 108,s on the go so PM sent ,
best to clear your inbox mate as it may be the first of a deluge :P

Just so you are all aware, im looking for the 108's to be in Excellent condition and not needing a refurb, i know how expensive a refurb is on these wheels and i dont want to have to budget in for that as well.

I ideally would be looking for branded non runflat tyres fitted to be already fitted to the wheels as well with similar tread to what i have to offer.

224s are generally more desirable than 108s because 108s are split rims they are prone to corrosion. 224s look better imo especially on the roady.

Shouldn't take you long to do this deal Ash... Don't think I have ever seen anyone go from 224s to 108s, but I did shed a tear when I parted with mine going the other direction as they are lovely in OEM guise.

Are you going to fit spacers ? The 108s will sit a lot further in than 224s - about 10mm up front and 20mm at the rear. I might be able to help you out if you decide to go that route

Not sure about that actually Tom, at least IMO - I recently went from 108 to 224 and as they are completely different styles I think they both look ace, they just give a different look. Mint 108s have a delicate sporty look that's hard to beat. I had toyed with keeping the 108s and swapping them back when I felt like a change.

Should say I am talking about looks - the corrosion sucks :x

Didn't realise this Bing so thanks for the heads up, how far will they stick in?

The other option i have been thinking about is getting them refurbished in Ferric Grey but we shall see. Im in no rush to swap etc as i do like them i just think the 108's suit the car better.

This is the only thing that puts me off the 108's, but when they have been refurbished they look great i think.

Perhaps sell the 224s so you get maxiumum money for them and then use that to buy a mint set of 108s and probably have change left over for the spacers. As others have said 224s are more desireable and I would certainly choose them over 108s which in my opinion look a bit dated.

I only say more desirable because 108s are more common on roadies than 224s

Not that they don't look good classic BMW design.

What I will say is that double dish rear looks far better on the Z and neither the 108s or 224s have it.

I would say a 100% mint / refurbed set of 224,s would fetch around £100 more than the same condition 108,s purely on a supply & demand basis .
As to which is the better Z wheel ? Personal choice dictates but i do think the rear offset of the 224 help,s tremendously on non M,s .

Ideally this is what i would like to do but the car is my daily driver and i dont have any spare wheels to put on it :(
