Just waiting on some more details about service history, does any one know the dealer or the car at all?

What about this one? It's a forum member's car and has had a lot of money spent on it (I don't know him and have no connection)
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202103260631895?include-delivery-option=on&model=Z4&postcode=pe111xn&radius=1500&sort=price-asc&aggregatedTrim=18i&advertising-location=at_cars&make=BMW&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&page=1
It has been mapped so has more power than a standard 28i (the engine can take it easily).

Looks like someone has retrofitted an android unit..has heated seats, no cruise...the 326M wheels are prone to cracks..looks like it has been gently ‘tweaked’ by a former owner..check how many oil changes it has had

Before parting with your money ,check the boot floor for any sign of water, indicating a water leak, also check the bottom of the rear lights for water ingress. The roof should open and close in one operation with your finger on the button.Check front for stone chips as black does show them up.

Drew, Thats a cracking suggestion, Boltz car is an absolute stunner and far better value than the one the op is looking at as well, never seen a car look so clean in my life on an advert

I know, I should be on commission :D I just have a feeling (from his posts on here I've seen) that he is a genuine chap with a genuine car which he now wants to move on, for no dodgy reasons. I've said it before; if I hadn't bought mine 2 months ago that car would be tucked up in my garage as we speak.

He promised me commission. Its a storming car for the money, looks the nuts with a few nice mods and he is only selling as he has bought his sons Golf GTi Anniversary edition so reliving his youth I think.

Boltz car is a manual and the car the OP has posted is an automatic, perhaps he has a preference for an auto?

Anyway looking at the ad I would want to check if it is a genuine M Sport model since it has brushed aluminium interior trim as far as I know the the M Sport came with sort of carbon chequered style trim. Not sure if the brushed aluminium could have been chosen as an option on an M Sport. It will be worth doing a VIN Decode and checking the V5.

Maybe. I struggle with the idea of an auto against a manual in a (supposed) sports car like the Z4. Admittedly, I can see the benefits of the six pot E89 with an auto (just). The N20 seems (to me) more suited to a manual, less of a cruiser than the 6 pot.

Good spot, yes it does seem odd. Does the i-drive actually do anything with a retrofit android screen?

Well since I properly advertised the car on here and Autotrader I finally took a call yesterday from a very pleasant gentleman who might be interested in my Zed but he was really looking for an auto so I will wait and see if anything further happens. Wife nagging me now about owning 2 cars or ornaments as she calls them because she says I hardly use them😂. So the Zed is still here waiting for a new owner, a good honest car, well looked after, well documented and a great opportunity for someone to own this stunner.

Thanks for the feedback so far, Boltz i hope yours does sell, I can see how much you have looked after it.
For me i want an auto and something that is pretty standard so insurance is not a pain and also looking at trade so i can get warranty.
But for now its on hold due to a family issue

Jay-Jay if you want to look around my car so you can use it as a benchmark for looking for the Zed you really want then I will be more than happy for you to do this👍

Carbon alu trim was the default option on M sport models but you could spec brushed alu as a no cost option. Coincidentally Zed number 4 which I will be picking up later this week is an M sport with brushed alu trim. It's actually nicer in the flesh than in pictures and makes a change.

I stand corrected! I have to say much rather prefer the brushed alu to the carbon alu that the M Sport came with as standard.

Out of interest what precisely either technically or emotionally causes your issues ref an E89 N20 Auto?

What have you bought?

It's a low mileage, 2 owner, 2015 2.0i M Sport Auto in Mineral Grey with idrive and the usual goodies. I have a bit of pampering planned and possibly a remap.
