looking for z4 few questions please

Hi all, hopefully ill soon own a zed, im trying to find a nice roadster in black dont want to spend over 6k really but i could if i need to.

As for the engine, has to be a straight six and i want some power, last car was tt 225 so i want at least as much power as that, Are the 2.2 and 2.5 any good? or shall i hold out for a 3.0 which is the one im most interested in.

Another Dilemma im facing is gearbox, Live in london so will be in traffic quite alot, all the purists say get the Manuel and i do like shifting a six up through the cogs but will the clutch get to me in traffic, it did sometimes in my tt.

Also reading about roof motor failing due to blocked drain plugs etc, How big a problem is this? dont want to buy one then have to deal with that headache?

any opinions and advice is greatly welcomed as i dont know much about zed's apart from the fact it looks stunning and the six engines are wonderful

Hold out for a 3.0.

I purchased a 2.2 straight after my TT and was quite disappointed with the performance.

I wasn't slow, but you had to work it harder compared to a turbo car like the TT.

Hold out for the 3.0 litre and get one with paddles if available. I would have gone with paddles shift if it were available on the ///M . Your going to be sat in traffic far more and thinking about it puts me off manual but that's just me. Good luck mate

Will deffo be a 3.0 then, not to keen on the paddle shift thing, rather have a full blown slushbox lol or Manual

I also live in London and must admit I miss the autobox from my old 5 series when stuck in traffic. However that thought is soon forgotten as soon as you get a chance to give it a blast through the gears :driving: As per another recent thread, there are pros and cons to both boxes.

As for the roof, as long as the drains are clear it should be ok, but hey, anything can fail over time right?
