Looking for wheels & tyres

Newbie looking for decent set of 18" or 19" wheels and tyres (leaning toward 18's).From what I've read it seems you usually get an honest description on here. I've given up on auction sites. Wrecked wheels with bald tyres are described as "minor curbing with plenty of tread" and for top dollar prices. Saw set of MV2's last night with different tyres (all unheard of brand names) with various tread depths and every wheel damaged. These were described as excellent and "only requiring refurb if fussy". I can't be arsed to waste my time with Wayne and his knackered 3 series cast-offs anymore. I don't want the earth, I'm not unreasonable but I'm not stupid either. Ideally I'm just after something decent at a price which allows for refurb costs or new boots if needed. I think I've come to the right place.

I sold a set of near mint set if MV2 with great Uniroyal tyres about a month ago for £400. There's been the odd set of 107s and a fair few 108s coming up fairly regularly, plus some decent aftermarket wheels. Spotted a set of 108 come up for sale last night actually. I've seen them in the flesh and they look great!

You won't have to wait too long if you're happy for standard Z4 wheels. Also I gave up looking at newer BMW wheels as just about every used set is wrapped in runflats which you really don't want.

If you wanted a set of 17s there's an amazing set going for only £200 at the moment, but for 18s or 19s with decent rubber you're looking £400+

Best of luck

Cheers Greg. That's exactly what I'm thinking. Good to have it confirmed.

You will find decent sets of wheels / tyres trade on the forum very regularly , you just have to be patient & be ready to move quick .
As for your disappointment at what folks think is acceptable :P check this Gumtree idiot out . Earlier in the week he contacted me offering them as a PX against a set i have on Gumtree , he was convinced they were worth at least £200 as the buckled ones could be repaired :D https://www.gumtree.com/p/wheel-rims-tyres/bmw-5x120-740d-msport-alloys-diamond-cut/1286902907 #deluded :P

A pic he sent via whatsapp , amazed it hasn't split tbh

I've got a set coming off my coupe today, MV2 18inch, with tyres (no name brand) will need a refurb but not looking for silly money, had the same problems with bandit bay as yourself and ended up getting a good set off of Mr wilks

What's amazed me most are the deliberately false descriptions. Stretching the truth is one thing but misrepresenting stuff isn't on. I run a business and we all want to promote stuff but these people are wasting people's time and money. I've travelled 200 miles this week to look at 2 sets. Both descriptions were a pack of lies. Not quite as bad as your pic tho. God save us from these idiots.

OP - You culd always buy say a set of 108's in need of a refurb, and then put the difference to getting them perfect? Just a thought..

And as for..

Sorry. Meant to reply. Yes, a photo would be good. What brand are tyres - are they all the same? Tread depth? & do wheels need refurb? I've no problem with any of this.

Tried to get some photos up, not very successful
The tyres are "mohawk"? Lots of tread, I've only had the car a few weeks so I didn't put them on, wheels will need a refurb though but no buckles or splits

I have these for sale, see my advert link below
