Hello!

Ive just registered on the forum, been browsing for a while!

I've finally managed to convince the other half that we need to indulge in a nice car. Had my eye on z4s for a while...

I'm trying to keep my options open, but ideally looking for a coupe in montego blue, ideally with sub 70k miles as i plan on using it as a daily for quite a while.

Welcome to the forum. Good choice going for a coupe. Glad that you have convinced your husband that a Z4 is what you both need. Others will be along soon to give more info on Montego Blue :)

Welcome. There are a few about, it will all come down to your preffered budget. Lovely high miler close to me, and priced accordingly.
Good luck on the hunt!

Welcome to the forum and good luck with you search.

I’m assuming you convinced the wife though as I see nothing in your post to the contary.

Srhutch - correct! I didnt say hisband or wife, guess its safer in this day and age not to assume haha!

Hunt is going well, going to see one on monday. Seems to be very very well looked after, any niche faults i should keep an eye out for?

Welcome to the forum OP - I'm on my 2nd Coupe and this one is Montego Blue. It has 86K miles on it and, No, it isn't for sale! :) Replying to a post like this is largely why I am on my 2nd!

Anyway I don't know how much browsing you have done, but there is a buying guide here:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=21281

The Coupes all had the 3.0 litre N52 engine (apart from the M Models) which has an electric water pump that is prone to failure any time after 8 years - my first Coupe needed one at 9 years and 60K miles. The pump itself costs the wrong side of £200 before fitting so if you find a car that has had one already that is a bonus.

But these engines generally seem to deal with the miles pretty well - my daily is an E91 325i with the 2.5 litre N52 engine and it's on 134K at present. So I'd be more concerned about condition and history than mileage, especially as you plan to use it as a daily - buying a low mileage one and putting miles on it is likely to drop it's value quite a bit.

There were two versions of the Coupe, SE and Sport. The biggest difference is that Sport models came with M-Sport seats, SEs had "Sport" seats and there is a world of difference between them - used M-Sport seats can sell for as much as £1,000 a pair so buying an SE and planning to swap them doesn't really work out! But some SEs had the M-Sport seats as they were an option. The other differences are that Sport models have a black headlining and lowerered and stiffened suspension (10mm lower IIRC).

And on the subject of options there were quite a few items that were standard on 1 and 3 Series models but not on Z4s - things like cruise control, rear parking sensors, stereo controls on the steering wheel spring to mind. :o Bi-Xenon headlights, heated seats and upgraded stereos are also popular options (plus cup-holders). :)

Anyway good luck finding the right one - I couldn't resist a photo by way of inspiration!

Thanks everyone for the advice :D Yours is bloody gorgeous Mr Tidy!

Ideal scenario would be I've got enough dosh to keep the z4 as a weekend toy and have another car as a daily, I'm aware the value will go down quite a bit with the z4 being a daily.

On balance though, I think I'm willing to take the hit to drive a car I love every day! Driving a Seat Ibiza 1.6 at the moment. Life is too short to be driving beige cars...

Thanks, I took that one in February - it looks better when it's clean!

Luckily mine is my toy for special occasions! I have an E91 325i as a daily as my Mum can't get into (or out of) my Z4 - well she is 96! :)

Wise words. Money is important but it isn't everything

Definitely have a good read through the buyer's guide and get a feel for what to look out for before viewing the first car. Feel free to post back on here after the test drive with any concerns you might have.

It took me 3 months to find my Montague Blue Coupe, just be patient as they are pretty hard to find, the right one will come along soon & good luck with the hunt :D

Here is one of mine
