Looking For Economy?

A friend if mine bought a Prius a few months back. It really is a good balance of economy and practicality. The US auto makers better smarten up and come out with a direct competitor quickly if they expect to stay in business.

I believe they believe their prime market is non-US based. Kill the union(s) is one major goal.

I'm not particularly fond of the prius's we have as pool cars at work.. its very large but has no boot space since the batteries take up most of the room. At 70mph it has no grunt to overtake and just makes a louder noise if you try to accelerate above 50mph :( The economy isn't all that either and I expect a modern TDI would both be nicer to drive and similarly frugal.

Steering is also completely devoid of any feel or feedback and the brakes rather severe.

I much prefered the honda civic IMA we had at work for a trial, it had a normal engine with a manual gearbox and drove like a normal car :D
