Hi folks I brought a z4m in November and only been able to drive it 90 miles, but really hate the standard wheels, what wheels sit best in terms of road quality

18" csl or 19" csl I've searched this forum and can't seem to find the best answer.

Thanks Mark

Genuine CSL wheels for the Z4M are 19"

If you were going non genuine I'd be looking at VMRs selection of 18" wheels.

Some say the 19"s are fine, others have said they compromise the handling a bit.
I'm happy on my originals and the main thing putting me of bigger wheels is the much higher tyre prices.

I've heard 19" csl wheels actually improve the handling.

i definatly did.... they are lighter than the stock 18s, combined with a better tyre choice, an aggressive alignment, the car is transformed!!

Yeah you two keep believing your boat anchors are better handling. Get a set of LIGHTWEIGHT wheels, and you'll soon notice the difference. If your serious about tracking your car, 18's are where it's at (I.e handling). 19's look pretty, but you'd get laughed off the track. Can't argue with physics.

laughed off a track in CSLs, lol.

I might have a set for sale at the right price, not decided yet.

Mehhh im happy anyhow :-) they are lighter than the stock items, i know as i weighed them both, they are however still heavy items but also again the are pretty good, i do have a proper set of lightweight rims, properly lightweight and forged 18s ,as much as id love to tell everyone its the best money ive spent and the difference is huge.... I simply cant.

Now another thing is in search for these hugely light weight rims, how much strength is lost in the rim... Just like you said, you cant defy the laws of physics..... Everything is a compromise and the csl is a good one imo....

You'd be laughed off if you had 18" CSLs, as they'd be heavy replicas - especially if they were pink (or CSL Cup/Kumho style with two orange & two bright green).

Although I do prefer going down a size for my track wheels, but usually only so I can buy cheaper & more readily available tyres for them. Smaller wheels with higher profile tyres also usually a bit bitter in damp/wet conditions as they tend to make the break-away more progressive, which in dry conditions can mean less initial bite when cornering.

All swings & roundabouts I suppose :P
