Looking for an E85 2.5 or 3.0 for sale upto £3500 (East of England)

Hi all,

I am on the look out for my first E85 Z4 preferably a manual and in the East of England as I'm Essex based. M54 or N52, preferably with under 120k miles on the clock (fav colour is black or grey but would consider other colours).

I have a budget of £3500, which I know is not a lot of money for one of these after spending the past 6 months looking at them, but that is what i am willing to spend. I am after a good, clean and well maintained examples for that price, and I know they are out there, but I'm struggling to find one down my way.

If anyone has or knows of a good Z4 for sale that meets the above criteria in the East of England, please can you post on here and let me know. Would also consider 2.2L. Thanks, Ashley

Pretty sure the mileage will deter you Ash, but my 'Project Cheapskate' will be available this weekend.
Less than your budget too.
Always happy to chat.

Not too far from you and has a nice interior with most options you'd need.

That car is just down the road from me. If you are interested I could take a look for you.

Thanks Usel, I saw that car and thought it looked pretty good. I may be interested in it, just waiting to catch up with Martin about Project Cheapskate to see whether that car is going to be a good match for me or not, if it is still available. Thanks for offering to look at it for me. I will definitely take you up on your offer to look at it if you are sure it's no trouble. I will let you know if I need you to take a look for me. Thank you, Ashley

I didn't know Martin was going to be selling yet, his car is the one I'd be looking at. At least you'll have piece of mind with his car

Thank you Rob. Much appreciated.
I should point out that of course old cars can throw up all sorts of issues, but I would never let a forum member down and the support would be here.

Saw this one. The only problem is that the owner has applied thick underseal to the underside, perhaps because of brake pipe rust

Thanks for sharing Raymond, I'm not sure I like the sound of thar. Surely undersealing underneath like that is going to make any future work on the brake lines an absolute nightmare! It's a pity as the rest of the car looks good and it has a decent mot history to match. Thanks for also offering to look at the other car for me too, which Usel posted down in Sussex. I will keep you posted if I need you to look at if for me. Much appreciated 👍🏽

I did check through the MOT on the car and there was a warning for a rusty brake pipe. I have only seen under-body rust mentioned on a Z4 before, that car was in Scotland. It could be the owner took fright and had it done either by himself or by a professional company. A quick message on eBay to ask about it may clear the air. Take your time! There are a few good cars out there.

How long does it take a workshop to replace rear brake pipes ? Half a day? make a price allowance to cover it if the car is good otherwise.
