Looking for a cheap 3.0

Evening all. The house move has happened, and the tip run car has been sold.

Looking for a cheap reliable car to have some fun in again, and another Z4 is on the shortlist, but must be a 3.0 if I’m going to be paying over £400 a year on tax.

I’ve got a maximum of around £3k. PM me if you’re thinking of selling.

Welcome back - again!

Good luck finding a hidden gem.

I am halfway through rescuing a 3.0i.
I'll get some photos sorted later if the rain stops.
It is one I looked after for someone and eventually the insurance got too much for him. (It went from £250 a year aged 79, to £1400 a year aged 80!!!)

Over the past year or so it has had a new yaw sensor and SBSR module (both now sealed inside polybags with silica gel sachets, as is the SBSL.
I moved the roof motor to the boot and removed the drain bungs both sides, fitted all new discs and pads (Brembo).

Since taking it on as a project I have replaced the rear shocks, bump stops and top mounts. A new pair of front struts are built up and ready to be bolted on. Whilst the original springs are in good condition, I had another very good pair in the garage with 15k less on them, so I have fitted those to make the actual swap over quicker.
I have just swapped the seats with a set of electric memory and heated standard ones, refurbished by Rob (Usel).
There is a vanos overhaul kit waiting to be fitted too.
The disa has been upgraded with metal innards.
I fitted a new intake elbow due to the usual hole in the small pipe.

The roof has a patch just behind the drivers door. I have another roof to swap onto it.

The car is Black Sapphire, has 90,038 miles on the clock and it's registration is AT53 LEF.

The previous owner took it on from his son, who lives on the Isle of Man, so he had to register it when he brought it over.
This may cause some confusion when looking at it's history.

I will be honest and say that once completed I was going to advertise it for more than your budget, but if you would be interested then we can maybe discuss a deal?

Thanks for those that got in contact (esp. Enuff_Zed). I’ve now put a deposit on a Zed but another Z3 not Z4, after finding a nice 2.2 example yesterday.

She’s a 2001, Sapphire Black, sport model, lsd, electric heated sports seats, 6 cylinders, fantastic exhaust note and 170bhp which to be honest, is all I really need for the backroads of Kent. Few small jobs to sort, but beautiful IMO.

Black Sapphire you heathen :poke:

When do you pick it up?

😆 Wasn’t my first choice as I know how hard it is to keep clean, but considering it’s 23 years old, the paintwork was remarkable.

Enjoy your Z3 until you return to Z4 ownership!
