Looking for a bluetooth upgrade now new phone laws are here

I've got the bog standard OEM CD head unit, a Parrot CK3100 bluetooth kit. I've also installed the aux port, which I rarely use as I forget to plug in the 3.5mm stereo cable. My smartphone is a Galaxy S6.

Now my Z4 will be my daily drive, I'm wondering how I can upgrade things, particularly as the phone laws hotter. Ideally I'd want an android auto touch screen that could work with the OEM head unit. But I can't find anyone making such devices yet. I'd much rather a dedicated touch screen (something like a TomTom size device) permanently mounted in the car, rather than using my smartphone. Using my smartphone as the interface is a pain, as I keep it in a wallet style case and it needs to be removed before putting onto a cradle or magnetic mount. I'd much rather keep it in my pocket and drive.
I've just discovered the GROM kit tonight after reading threads here and this is a step up, but it still relies on your smartphone going onto a cradle.

I suppose the other option is to replace the head unit for fancy unit with a pop out touchscreen. The trouble with those is they then block the two air vents - and I rely on those quite a bit for blowing hot air when the roof is down on cold days. But I guess for now, that's the only option. Anyone got one of these fitted?

I generally don't make calls whilst driving but I do receive them so I use this which means my phone can stay in it's case in my pocket and no faffy installation. Sound quality is excellent and you can move it between cars.

If you use your phone a lot in the car then an integrated solution would be better but for occasional use this is perfect and sound quality is excellent.

I'm thinking something with a touch screen that you can use Google Maps, Google Music etc on it. There must be a demand for a Android Auto/Apple Car Play add-on unit?
