Looking at Z4s

It's up to you - I would look at a few cars and see what you definitely want/might like/not bothered about.

Couple more questions then if I may.

Any obvious things to look for in the options? leather an option or alacantra standard?

Cruise control? It says in the link not available? No even retro fit?
Electric leather was/is standard on 3.0 cars, cruise you can retrofit. Alcantara isn't available (I hate it anyway :) )

The standard spec for a 3.0 is pretty good, you really only need a few options, so try and get heated seats and 18" wheels, then maybe xenons, hifi system, CD changer from the rarer options. Nav was available from launch but not too many cars have it, especially pre-facelift.

Annual tax?

TTs has just gone up so will be £400 next year?

Is this the same band for the Z?

The manual 3.0 is just under the 225 g/km(or whatever the unit is) for the top tax group, so is a good bit cheaper. The automatics are just over 225 though and so have the stupid £400 tax next year.

I had a 225 TT some time ago, and i can say that the Z4 3.0 is miles more fun !....dont get me wrong, i still love the original TT but it doesnt compare in the driving / excitiment department. The one think the TT lackes in my opinion is any noise !. Get a 3.0Zed, remove the foam from the sound generator and you will see exactly what i mean.

Cruise control is simple to retrofit even for a complete idiot DIY'er like me. £150 to buy the part from the dealer, they wanted another £150 to fit it!

As suggested by other's, 3.0 sounds superb with the large piece of foam removed from the sound generator, again this was an easy fix, otherwise I wouldn't have done it.

Recommend you find one with heated seats, pretty sure all the TT's had them?

I concur on heated seats. I really really really really regret not getting one with heated seats....really.

Did the coupe get released miles after the roadster?

There are 963 Z4s on autotrader, but 90% must be roadster. Were they just released alot later?

I don't have heated seats and don't miss them to be honest. I had them on my old car, and after the first few weeks the novelty wore off.

I didn't have heated seats in my Z roadster and after having them in my TTR I thought I'd miss them. I didn't.

However, as I specced my coupe myself I specced heated seats. Have used them only once or twice.

Would say they're needed more in a roadster but as I say, I didn't miss them

this option has been on my mind for about a year now.

heated seats and xenons are nice.
full on sat nav looks cool, and gives a few graphical display like the DIS on the TT.

there's the option for pre and post facelift.
few subtle changes, but i like the sport seats which aren't found on pre much.

As for the sat-nav, i borrowed a car with it for 2 weeks and found it totally useless. I would try it before you spec it though, as it is expensive !

Coupe was released in uhm 05 or 06 if memory serves
Coupe came in March 06, but remember it also only comes with the 3.0 engine, unlike the roadster with 2.0, 2.2, 2.5 and 3.0 so there will be far less of them about anyway.

Before any mentions it, I never forgot about the ///M, just that it's a separate beast in it's own right.
