Well said sp3ctre . On the basis of a few posts made, I was really tempted to wade in with my size 10's for a bit of heated political debate (to be honest a couple of posts really wound me up), I'm glad I didn't now - thanks for putting it in perspective.

Whilst this may come across as 'taking the bait', I can only extend my apologies, I'm only human. I'm always up for rational debate and can appreciate a well communicated point of view even if I don't agree with it, however this hasn't really been the case - so I'll make this my single and final post on this thread, regardless of whatever response may come back.

I'm assuming you mean Enoch Powell and I could hazard a guess as to what most people will associate with his name, a speech many regard to be the most inflammatory ever made in British politics. My own personal view - of course everyone is entitled to one and it may be different - is that he was a :wkr:, not just for 'that' speech but for other reasons too.

Regarding 'that' speech, he neglected the duty of his position and single-handedly managed to give racist views an implied 'legitimacy' (which at the time, given the influx of immigrants from the British Commonwealth, the presence and acceptance of casual racism in society and the media, and institutional racism within the police force) made the daily lives of many peaceful, law-abiding and hard-working people pretty miserable if not dangerous - and in some cases deadly - should they happen to be non-white or somehow/otherwise not 'British'.

What place any of this has on a thread about the recent riots, let alone a car forum, is still lost on me. Unless of course, you're implying that the riots may never have happened if we had no immigration? In which case, you've still done nothing to explain your point.
