Lollipop bushes are not hydraulic as I thought.(picture)

I was curious to see if these (lollipop bushes) were hydraulic (damped with oil) internally) and why they fail. I had read that they were.
I replace two yesterday and cut them open this morning, the one that had failed had water inside and was rusty inside, the rubber was torn.
The other was sealed, clean and shiny inside but no oil. It was dry and still bonded, not a sign of oil anywhere.
I know some mounts are hydraulic damped, on my Car (E class) the engine mounts were filled with oil and it leaked out everywhere and it allowed the engine to drop slightly and give vibration.

Are you sure that the ones you took off were OEM? When I replaced my OEM bushes with powerflex the OEMs definately had oil in them

Originals should be hydraulic, mine splurged oil when I split them getting them off.

Agreed - both mine were full of oil as I found out when I took them off a quick way...
Replacements I've fitted since are not

The failed bush had rusty water inside, (a brown liquid) definetly not oil.

My bushes have BMW stamped, they may be original, I have all the history and no bills for suspension. You can see from the picture which is the rusty bush (I cut them in half), the clean one was sealed and dry.

My guess would be oil has already come out over time whilst the bushes started to fail which is why you couldn't see any oil
