Locking Wheel Nut Key

Evening,

Age old issue, took my car for a couple of minor service issues and the garage say they can't find the locking wheel nut key. In fairness I popped by after work and it was nowhere to be seen in the car. I may be wrong, but I am damn sure it was in there.

There are a couple of peeps at work with BMWs of similar age and spec, are locking keys all the same? or is there a selection of different ones to prevent thieves nicking lots of wheels with one key?

seems a stupid question but thought i'd check.

Sorry but they are different. On the plus side the keys are not that expensive

any ideas on how you might find out which one you require?

Take the car to a friendly dealer if you don't have the key number. They will have a box full of them, they can then go through one by one till they find one that fits Did it on my Focus. I ended up purchasing a whole set off them for £30 quid though so...

My local dealership is usually useless but I asked about a spare locking key, fella came out and was good as gold. £12 later I got the nut through next day
