Locked Centre Storage

So I've had this lingering issue for a little while now, and the struggle to find somewhere to keep my sunglasses has prompted me to now get it sorted.

Brought her out of storage roughly a month ago and the battery was completely gone. Since replace, runs like a dream. However, the centre storage compartment seems to be locked. I've tried locking and unlocking multi times in and out of the car while pressing the release button. No bueno.

Anyone else had this and managed to resolve?

Could be the lock mechanism on the way out or the gm5?

There is an emergency pull cord in the boot that you can pull which overrides the lock or I think you can pop a slim screwdriver in the gap to pop the latch down

Credit card will pop the latch. Or debit card, it's not fussy.

But then you may need a new lock actuator. Easy enough to swap if you know how the rear section of the console comes off.
