Location

Location is the Eastern European province of Spalding, Lincolnshire. English is now officially a second (or possibly third) language.

But I am a 'home Counties' boy from the leafy Chilterns area of Buckinghamshire. I say 'barth' rather than 'bath', and 'lasaargne' rather than 'lasanye'. Starting to wonder why I moved TBH. Oh yeah, I remember; the house prices! :D

Where in Buckinghamshire? I was born on the Cliveden estate in Taplow and lived in Beaconsfield until I moved to London as a student (then Sydney, then London, then Sydney, then Devon, now Sydney again).

Feck me, mate, are you a member of the 'Aristocracy', or the Aster family? :poke:

I am a Wycombe boy, born and bred. Strong in the arm and thick in the head.

Hah! a neighbour. :D
I've never been to the TC in my zed, partly because I don't fancy the speed bumps on the way in to where the wife says I must park, and partly because I hate going anyway...

Tamworth or the fattest town in the Uk in 2012 based on data produced by Public Health England. Apparently 30.7% of the population were obese.

Yeah but that means 69.3% weren't. I would take them odds every day!

Could be worse; I reckon 69.3% of the women in my town are fugly! :D

Bucks. Wycombe and other parts of The Shire. After many years in the smoke, I moved back to The Shire, settled down and all that guff. Our Clan now resides in Buckingham, and we love it.

Sadly not! There was a Canadian Red Cross Hospital in the grounds at that time that served as a maternity unit. It’s long since been demolished and replaced with residential housing for the elderly.

I used to be a regular at a few pubs in High Wycombe, I wonder if I would know either of you. We used to go to The Flint Cottage and The White Lion by the station, as well as The Hobgoblin, The Antelope and The Roundabout in town. We were often in The White Horse on the West Wycombe Road too back when it was a pub for underage drinking and live music, rather than a pub for old men with even older “exotic” dancers!

But fugly is in the eye of the beholder and you might have high standards Ponders!

Yep been in all of those at one time or another, except The Roundabout, that doesn't ring a bell. The 'Flint' was a bit 'ZZ Top' for me, though.
The Angel on Paul's Row was a favourite for a while. In the mid '90s I did some refrigeration work for the chap who owned The White Horse among other dodgy pubs in the area. He was as dodgy as the establishments. :o

Most of my 'youff' was spent in The Osborne Arms and The Clayton Arms in Lane End, as that's where I lived!

I’m a couple miles outside of Oxford or ‘the doorstep to the Cotswolds’ if I ever come to sell my house!

Not many Zeds round here that I’ve seen…

The Roundabout was on Bridge Street just off Desborough Road. It was another underage drinking and live music pub when I was a teenager. It’s now a sports bar…
I never went into The Angel, but it became an O’Neill’s ten or fifteen years ago and was a good venue for live bands for a while.
I don’t know Lane End at all, but I’m sure my BIL would since he seems to have tested every pub within 50 miles of Princes Risborough :D

You do realise we have turned this thread into a 'love in' of the High Wycombe area?

That's actually even sadder than it sounds, if you know the area! Don't miss living there at all!

Nor do I…but I do miss my youthful misbehaviour in High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Gerrard’s Cross, London….pretty much anyway in fact! :D

When I was a boy my Dads band used to play regular gigs at the Flint Cottage. We moved to Aylesbury area by the time I was 10 but my Nan lived there for many years. I also spent lots of my youth in Chinnor, Risborough etc, and still have family that way. In fact, on Saturday, my brother and cousin (both z4 owners) are meeting for a memory lane blast around the roads off the Ridgeway. Can’t wait.

Ah Chinnor! I had a business partner who lived (or probably still does) there.
I also worked in Princes Risborough for a year or so back in 1984/5.

I lived in a small village just south of Thame for 7 years aswell.

Aylesbury used to be the town where people from the Wycombe area bought their first houses, as it was significantly cheaper. Then things changed and Bicester was the 'go to' cheap town, then Banbury! Now it's probably somewhere in the Outer Hebrides! :D

Yep, all my old stomping grounds. Though I was starting to stomp them a little later

Definitely not anywhere south of Leicester these days, unfortunately.

And I suspect I was stomping there later still :P
My sister and her family live in Princes Risborough and my parents in a small village not too far away, so I’m often found blasting around the Ridgeway when I’m back in the UK, albeit in my RS4 since my Zed is here in Aus with me.
