Presently going over a full detailing job while the car is stored for winter. Just wanted to share a few extra steps I like to take before polishing:
Cover various parts with garbage bags as I go around, avoiding small polish "sling" coming off the pad at higher speeds. Removed antenna (arial) and windscreen washer jets in order to maintain uniform movement, speed and pressure with the polisher, instead of going around.
Tilt mirors and remove side badges, again, nice uniform pass with the polisher:
Tape all non painted pieces to avoid accidently polishing the edges. Remove license plate and frame for more uniform polishing action:
All the pieces removed will stay off until the final top coat of wax is buffed, enabling a consistent front to back motion without interference (just as Doctor Ducks ordered!)
Remove front grills and gently clean bugs off radiator and all other surfaces. Wash all visible areas behind grill by hand:
Clean and polish both grills inside/out before installing:
Takes a bit more time...but she's worth it!
