Light temperatures

Hi all

Considering putting in HID lights in but not sure what colour to go for 6000k or 8000k. I have been looking at the lights on new bmw and audis etc and some of the lights look very blue. What is the standard light temp they have in these cars when u buy them new. Is there an option for 8000k. Also some of there drl are very bright and blue too. I am going to frost etch my fog lights and but in his lights in to make them like drls so again not sure if 6000 or 8000k match the colour of the current drls?

Anything thoughts? Also is hids direct best place to buy? And is there a good guide on how to connect the new lights up but also in a way to be able to swap them out quickly with the halogen light?

Thanks

Certainly no higher than 6000k or they are just blue. 5000k is a good compromise between blue and actual light output.

Do Z4s with halogen lights have projectors? Don't fit HIDs in reflector lights, the beam goes everywhere!

My halos have circular ridges round the lens - I guess that's the 'projector' ? I seem to remember ranski sourced smooth lenses when he did his HID conversion. I'm sure he'll see this and comment, he's got a wealth of experience.

They they have projector and I saw the smooth lens but I think u would need to soil the headlight apart to do that. I saw some others keep the old lens in. But I am just wanting to get a colour match for those blue lights and drl on some of the Mercs and bmw I see.

Can anyone advise

I was going to get some 50w Cree led h11 lights to turn fog lights into drl. However I see I can get h11 hid kits off eBay for 25 quid the same price as led bulb. While these kits work fine in the z4? Or is there anything I should look out for?

As said by Mike8080, no more than 6000k.

I've found amazon to be the best place for hid kits, great value for money there especially when all the other places sell the exact same kit

Get yourself a HID relay kit, will ease the stress on your factory wiring

I personally wouldn't bother with the fog lights as led drls and would leave them as normal fog lights

Just my £0.02

Got a link to a Kirin amazon ur talking about? What price are the ones on amazon? The ones on eBay at 25 quid are so cheap it makes me suspicious. I heard of error and flickering problems.

If I put hid in the of lights it's a half drl half foglights and I can choose what I like.

Also I know what people say but the 8000k does seem nice. 6000k seems just white :(

Person preference really. Be good to see some pics from forum members tho.

I meant to say do you have a link to a recommended kit on amazon? 20 hid kits for 20 quid there. That's really cheap. But do they work?

Anyone had any experience with these kits?

Think I am heading towards 8000k, 6000k seem too white. Any pics on the z4 to help me decide?

I've put 6000k in my cars in the past. I've gotten a 6000k set off eBay the same as a forum member that did the conversion recently. The car's in being fixed at the moment but sadly Royal Mail has lost my HID kit.

I will report after this weekend.

I bought a 25 quid set off ebay (6000k) and one bulb is flickering ever so slightly. The colour isn't exactly great either. I wanted them white, but these are more an icy colour:
