Light fault indicator

Hello.

I've noticed recently that on occasion, a few seconds after start up, I get the bulb fault indicator come on my dash. It goes off after about 30 seconds so I presumed it was a bulb out somewhere but I couldn't find it.

I have then noticed that one of my front indicators is becoming partly lit at the same time- it's not as bright though is it would be when actually flashing. It goes off after the 30 seconds or so.
I don't have the indicator stalk on.
The indicator still flashes if I do.

I am wondering if it is some kind of parking light?

Any thoughts?

Parking lights only come on if you turn the ignition off with the indicators set on.

Weird stuff happens when the battery is on the way out, and as this is happening just after you start the car I'd be inclined to check the battery health.

I have the same problem too, and I guess from our membership names that we live nearby too Gaz (I live in DE3). I have got used to it, and find that it all goes back to normal faster if I turn on the side lights (but this may just be my imagination).
Suggestion about dodgy battery could well be true - my car is now over 9 years old and still on it's original factory fitted battery - I have never owned a car for this long, and have had to replace the battery on nearly all of the previous ones, so I guess that my Z4 battery is getting well past it (although it spins the engine up sprightly every morning, even in the deep mid-winter).
