Let's talk exhaust options

I was doing some research and I discovered two things about exhaust and Z4s

1. there are very few systems
2. they are all very expensive

I only found a handful of systems ranging in price from $900 for Dinan to $1,600 for Supersprint. That is just ridiculous! Are there seriously no other cost effective methods out there? Someone mentioned to me getting a magnaflow, but that is a little too far down the cheap end for me. Is any other company planning on offering an exhaust system for the Z4? Do these systems ever go on sale? I know there is a group buy for eisermann right now on bimmerforums, but I'm sure it'll still be too much money.

whats wrong with magnaflow?

their quality is great, and while I dont know how they sound on BMWs, I chose them twice for two 4.6l mustangs.

The Magnaflow does not sound too bad. I just don't know what it sounds like on the highway at a constant cruise.

hmm, i have to also say magnaflow is not bad. don't get sucked into the whole dinan, ss, etc. hype. in the end, stainless steel is stainless steel. and being that magnaflow is in the business of exhausts/mufflers, i would trust their system more than dinan.

Actually, Magnaflow has continously been know to have poor build quality and fitment issues, while Dinan, Supersprint are known to be the opposite. There has to be a reason for that, right?

Nontheless, Magnaflow exhausts tend to be loud and drone like crazy. If anyone's going to get them, I'd recommend at least getting test-ride in a Z4 with Magnaflows before you spend the cash.

See my recent post about my supersprint install last week http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3478

And yes...they go on sale!! Right now the complete system (race exhaust and connecting pipe) is about $800 shipped! You just have to call and ask for that pricing.

Seriously, I feel like I'm driving a differnt car with the exhaust. The roars down the street now! I promise...some drive by sound clips soon.

poor build quality according to who?

people not liking the sound and drone are the only complaints ive ever heard about magnaflow before tonight.

but i agree- its always best to hear it for yourself. internet sound files are never accurate.

So far this is my list; Remus, Dinan, Supersprint, Eisenmann, B&B, Racing Dynamics, and SACLAM. All are 700$+ Never heard anyone with the Racing Dynamics, seen one video with the B&B and SACLAM. If anyone is familiar with Highline Tuning in the E46 3-Series division, I'll be working with the owner to hopefully put out an enthusiast minded exhaust for the Z4 and Z4M. Very affordable and killer sound; for example, his full catback stainless steel systems are 699$ for the E46 and Axel back at under 400$ I'll keep you guys posted :P

The one thing I wish you could do with SuperSprint is order the tip style you want.
When I ordered my M exhast, I was on the fence race vs sport....
If I could have gotten the sport tips, I probably would have gone with the race cans.

Cool thanks for the list.

I really don't like the sound of magnaflows. They drone, and IMO they sound cheap. It is all personal preference.

i've been looking around for a dual exhaust system, i saw eisenmann but some told me it's not good, so i heard that hamann do dual tips, i went to this website

http://www.hamann-motorsport.de/653.0.html?&L=1

i saw mufflers with 4 tailpipes it's for regular z4s right not M ?!
the problem they r not listing the price ?! how do i know the price ?!

i know a guy he told me that he can get me those mufflers for 2720$ !! i was shocked with the price is that true !! r they that expensive !!?

coz i'm not convinced with that price i think it's too much
