Led reversing light

Anybody changed there 382 reversing bulb for LED ones, if so could you tell me which led ones you have fitted :)

I used CREE ones, but the bulb holders had to be shaved down to fit the shape. Similar to these ones, they were around £6 for one from the same company.

Was looking at these, but they seem quite expensive.

Well after buy this one off ebay and fitting it, there's no difference, still very poor light.

Do these fit the face lit models? I can't remember if the z4 has 2 reversing lights or 1.

Avoid Bimmian, overpriced.

I'm still looking for a decent set, output isn't really the issue more that the light isn't angled down.

I heard if you're not careful and purchase the cheap bulbs, they can blow out the electric loom. Dunno if it's true

Don't know - I expect not, as the pre-facelift lights are P21W and I expect the facelift are different.

Hi All,

I have a 2003 Z4 E85 3.0i but I don't seem to have any reverse lights? Nothing lights up when in reverse. I'm finding it very difficult to park :(

If the reverse bulb was blown then wouldn't I get a canbus error, if not, how many bulbs should I order? 1 or 2? And can it fit most LED 382 reverse lights or isit a tight fit?

Thanks guys

Ok it appears to have one white coloured circular lense, checked the bulb and what do I see, no bloody bulb fitted !! I guess that's why theres no canbus warning light on the dash, will be ordering an LED one tonight

But shouldn't no bulb = canbus error / warning light on dash?

Not if it's unmonitored. Reversing light is not a UK legal requirement so I assume that's why it's not. Front fogs are not monitored but then neither are number plate lamps which are a requirement.

I knew about the number plate and fog lights, but wasn't aware the reversing light wasn't monitored. Always learning with these cars... :)

Is there a list of what is and what isn't monitored?

The LED lights that I like and want to fit to the interiors are NOT canbus error free, i.e to the:

Map lights
Central light (between map light)
Foot well
Boot
Rear center console

Do they need to be canbus/error free?

Interior is not monitored at all.

This may be different between models but for me.

Monitored
Dipped beam
Main beam
sidelights
rear fogs (though maybe only the one that lights up? OSR)
indicators
brake lamps

Though I have coded out the bulb check for front sidelights and fitted standard Philips LEDs. Technically illegal as they have no E marking :telloff:

Most CANBUS LEDs simply have load resistors to foo the system completely negating the point of using LEDs in my view...

Thanks for that Steve,

That's perfect then, as all the interior LED's I was looking at on eBay weren't canbus, like those large LED circuit board ones. I'll get ordering then.

Well I guess with the resistor it'll draw the same current as a halogen bulb but it'll still look way better and more modern, so not entirely negating them if you ask me :)

Yes they look better but I'm greedy and wanted the power savings too for parking lights

Beware if you do get any canbus ones, they can be of variable quality and fail quickly, better in my view to buy a good brand and code out any checks.
OE LED number plate lamps are available which look tons better, about £30 the pair now though.

You mean you can disable the canbus checks so you don't get any warning lights?

But surely if you did get a good brand it would be canbus anyway?
