Led back up lights - Pics

I changed the original W16W bulbs to leds (19 M-SMT 8W):

What do you guys think?

Gotta love lEDs, as long as the system doesn't recognise them, which I guess yours does. Are both pics with the LEDs? Given the lighting conditions are different.

No error. Both pics are with leds. Yes, in the picture it looks different, but really they are not.
For example, here it looks like the other one is brighter:

That bulb is somewhat expensive on this side of the pond at about $15.00 each...

I did a comparison on my old MX-5. I've got those LEDs around here somewhere, just dig them out and try them in the Z...

I quite like it... sadly my experience of those sorts of bulbs is that they dont last very long.

What? LEDs? They should last substantially longer than incandescents. I've only replaced one yet (on my 5 that is - it started flashing) and I had them all over. Sounds you didn't have a match to the power, or poor quality ones.

I think it was a matter of poor quality and design as the LED's used in those sorts of bulbs tend to be standard smd's which are not fit for purpose with insufficient voltage regulation - unlike specifically designed LED lights for cars where the power to them is regulated (with a much smaller voltage variance) so the LED's and so should last the life of the car (atleast I hope so as the rear lights on the facelift are LED's!)

The faults i had with them is as you describe they start blinking first and then eventually fail.

The worst were some LED brake lights i once had literally lasted a month before one by one the LED's starting failing.
