Leather roll hoops + wind deflector

Hi folks,

My first question here after just joining today. Did a bit of searching but couldn't seem to find what I was after..

I have a Z4M roadster that doesn't have any sort of wind deflector fitted, and on the few open top runs I have done so far, found it a bit breezy at speed for my 6'6" frame. I have seen various posts of the two different wind deflectors, but haven't seen any pictures of the more expensive, fitted one with a car with the leather roll hoops. Mine are cream leather like the interior, so not sure whether or not it is possible to retro fit that one?

Any thoughts, and if not, does anyone have the pull on one and is it any good? (Apart from looking slightly pants perhaps...)

Cheers
Duncan

Are you sure you've not missed the wind deflector on the inside of your boot lid? (I missed this when I bought mine until the dealer pointed it out!)

Nope, definitely no deflector or fittings for one!! (Had to go check to make absolutely sure mind...) ;-)

Leather roll hoops come with extended leather option. This is an interesting dilemma because the OEM wind deflector comes with replacement roll hoop covers already mounted with brackets to hold the mesh screen.

The other OEM deflector slides over the roll hoops. I've only seen it in black.
i suppose it will fit over the leather roll hoops.

roadstersolutions.com sells another but you have to stick the mounting brackets onto your roll hoops.

Have tried two out of these three myself. Roadster solutions version performs very well and it's extremely discreet

I'm sure you could get extended leather with the original mesh deflector, so the oem brackets must fit. just a question of whether you'd damage them in putting the brackets back on. saw a post somewhere recently about how-to?

Unfortunately the Roadster solutions web site says it fits 'all Z4's apart from those with extended leather'... bummer. :(

I had a vaguely similar problem when I was looking for black roll hoop covers for my Z4MR. I ended up going for the mesh one which simply covers your original roll-hoop covers and is made of black leather. You'd probably find it looks OK on yours.

Also, I'm only 6'4" but I honestly didn't find the wind deflector made that much difference - I think it has its main effects lower in the cabin (though this will hopefully be useful for my wife who doesn't like her hair being blown about)

I'm 6ft 5 and the wind deflector doesn't make that much difference to me either. If I slouch down to short-arse level then it makes a big difference. Don't get me wrong - it does help with noise and buffeting in the cabin, but when part of your head is above it then aerodynamic stuff still goes on.
