Leather maintennnance

When I leave the gym my shirt is often sweaty and that transfers to the seat. The other day in particular I noticed how moist the seat really gets after driving in it like that, and now I'm wondering what this effect will have over the course of time.

My associate was standing over my desk eating a sandwich when I asked him about it. After a long pause he says

"Well... Animals sweat."

"That's true" I say

"And... that leather is made from animals right?"

"Yea I think so"

"So.. I guess in a way it's made for that... Should be fine otherwise animals in the wild would get messed up skin"

"Yea I guess you're right"

BUT IS he right? What will sweat DO to this leather. Imola Red leather. :headbang:

Sweat is at least as bad as water and I don't like it raining on my leather jacket. So IMHO I would protect the seat with a towel.

What exactly does it DO to the leather? Plus keep in mind sweat evaporates fast and these rainwaters don't, and often leave pollutants.

As far as I know it will block the pores in th leather... this is bad news for leather and leads to it becoming shiny. Shiny leather is very bad! I suggest giving it the gliptone treatment once every month or two... its nt difficult to do and leaves the leather in great condition

Been wondering about this myself

Which is the right gliptone product to get?

Why dont you just change your shirt after training???????

Salt is not very good to most things long term.

I agree about the liquid leather treatment.

Leather is skin which need looking after.
