leaky hood

this is prob a recuring question so sorry if its been covered loads.

when i bought the car it i looked over the hood carefully and it seems in really good nick. no scratches/tears etc all the aseals around the doors etc seem good too.

so yesterday i got in and found it had leaked, it wasnt much but its on the drivers side where the hood, top of the screen A-pillar and the window meet.

the rain wasnt really heavy yesterday but it was persistent. this car is kept outside so i want to sort this quick.

there doesnt seem to be any holes/tears in the hood. it meets the window well, the drivers window is in the right place too. the seals ar not perished. is there any kind of drain here? maybe its blocked.

the water in th car is not bad just seems to have ended up in the little recess in the floor by the seat rail. nothing much else.

any advice on what to do is much appriciated.

while im on it whats the best thing to treat the hood and look after it for the winter etc.

thanks in advance

Dom

might not be your roof leaking it could be the the membrane inside the door its a well known problem if someone has had the door card off to do the window regulator another well known problem ,water is designed to run inside the door so if there is a tear in the membrane it will come inside the door i have just replaced mine not a big job so might be worth taking door card off first and checking the membrane inside

deffo not that on its own as i was watching it drip on me on the way home from that that point and you could see where it had splached down the door card onto the floor.

i will check up on it there though just to be sure. thanks

You're 95% there if you know where it's coming in, as you seem to.
I'd put some talcum powder on the surfaces, close the roof and gently spray water and check its track in. Replace or adjust.

might sound daft but are the windows closed properly... they may have dropped slightly... there is a guide on here on how to reset/-reseat them.. may be worth a try

Been and had a better look earlier as I wondered about the windows. They are nicely up into the right place when the door is shut.

I'll try the powder thing but again nothing looked like it was perished. It looks like there is a drain down the a pilar seal from the top of the screen mechanism. Any idea where this drains

Out buying a hose now to play with as I left mine at my old house DOH!

I have this problem too :( but only after I got my roof fabric replaced (new roof with window etc) car was water tight before when being jet washed but now the water sprays in a bit from the top of the windows when jet washing. Rain doesn't seem to come in though. Not sure how to fix it.
