Leak from under car

Great start to the day just driven over a 1/2 brick and now got leak from under the middle of the car. It’s a 03 3.0l very any ideas people??

I would think if the leak is further back than the gearbox then it can only really be fuel or brake fluid :(

Have you tried 'sampling' the fluid... Dip your finger in a check for viscosity and odour? Viscosity should indicate whether it's oil or water and smell may point towards engine or gearbox oil?

but as Kis has pointed out it could just be water from the rad... any fluid will make it's way along the bottom of the car and drip off at the lowest point, location of the puddle may be misleading? I'd be looking for the trail of wet and see where it ends!

Are you able to get underneath and take a picture at all?

The car should have an undertray which protects the bottom of the engine and if I remember correctly it extends from the front cross member backwards so under the rad.

When did you look for damage - as soon as it happened? later on the drive or at work? how often have you looked under the car?

I ask this because if you're in a coupe or been 'top up' in the roadster with the air con on then in this humid weather you're going to get a puddle of water from the air con when you stop - this might have been happening for days now but its just that you've seen it because you looked underneath today after going over the brick. Have you got it set to ice cold? If the fluid has gone when you nest look I'd be thinking air con draining which is normal.

Did you hear any contact from the brick? Dull thud from the undertray; clank from floor pan, exhaust etc further back down the car. The fuel and brake lines are routed away from exposed areas in the main (that's why the are a ball ache to change) the only really exposed ones are the flexi lines going to the callipers so a cut line would be rare and unlucky.

Here's hoping its a simple solution

I had punctured fuel tank in my Mini Countryman from driving over a branch which I couldn't see in the dark on a country road during a storm. Check your fuel gauge and the smell of fuel.

At this time of the year, the aircon can leave a damp patch under a car, after it's been standing for only a minute.

Well the outcome from the garage tha fluid was coming from a/c drain had a look while up on ramp strange as I don’t use it and never noticed wet patch before, but I had pulled the lower control arm bush out dented the pan. So £130 lighter I’m happy no warning lights and driving fine 😀😀
