Last Newbie Post!!!!

This is officially my last post as a so called 'Newbie' as I've now taken onboard stunningly beautiful Mr Wilkes Z4MR.

Today should have been plain sailing, get up at 7am, train to Burnley Barracks, collects car, drive home through the peaks, tell the wife I've purchased a new car, ear plugs in, happy days. All started as planned until my train got pulled at Crewe for a fatality on the line ahead. All of a sudden that 11am collection became a distant memory and I started to think that the powers that be on this forum had put in place measures that would ensure the ambassador that is Mr Wilkes stays with car for a tad longer. After diggin deep on an escape route out of Preston I managed to get a link over to Mr W's patch by 1pm..........phew!!!!

Deal done, paperwork signed and off en route to the peaks! Bugger the M6 me and the Zed need to get to know each other so off we go on our first journey together. Sat nav played balled until we got to Buxton then took the piss so the A515 south turned into a trip back across to Stoke for Southbach and the journey back! Nuff said!

Arrived home just in time for the wife's pre panned 'wine tasting' night with friends and family! Now I'm not sure if I was still high on the Zed, mutton deaf through the 3 1/2 hour drone of the back boxes or just shattered from a long day but to be frank I just wanted to go out and drive the car for another 3 hours. First impression is that this car is everything I imagined it would be and more. I can't believe how tight it is on the tarmac and it drives like it's just come off the track.

My jaw aches like I've been gurning like a raver on acid for 3 days! Simple fact is I've been indoctrinated into the world of the Zed that includes an ear to ear grin.

Apologies for the long winded post but I've been on the Pino Noir since 8!

Pics posted below of the journey back!

I'll be up at 7am in the morning to pinch myself to make sure this isn't a dream!

And mr Wilks has probably been sobbing in his pino noir since eight :(

If it was me I'd agree. Thankfully Mystic Meg tells me he'll be back here with another Zed soon.

I think the opposite,
my bet he's moved on already and was raising a few glasses to the expected arrival of his E89.

Must have been quite a lot of wine tasting last night.
This post is duplicated. :poke:

Enjoy your car Sparkybrum  :driving:

Glad to see a safe landing home with time for some great pics en route .
Enjoy the car mate

You lucky man.

I had a smile on my face when you say that the Satnav screwed you over as I was talking about something similar with the wife last night in terms of ditching the Tom Tom when we get out and about to rely solely on the AA Roadmap we have tucked away somewhere!!

Enjoy the car, it's a stunner and a credit to Mr Wilks.

glad you got back safely, i thought it may have been Mr Wilks who was found fatal on the track lol

Thats one helluva a 1st Zed to own. I enjoyed your write up and great photos

Having just spent 5 years digging deep into my pockets to restore my TR6 I wanted something that wasn't a project! This Z is as you say 'one helluva motor' and I can't think of a single thing I want to do to it! I actually felt guilty not buying anything for it so I ordered a disclock just to make me feel better. The fact that it's wrapped up in the garage most of the time without the need for the lock doesn't really matter. May get a new air freshener at the weekend but there's no point if the roofs down all the time!!!
